Bristol’s Brilliant Archaeology Day 13 Sept

Location: Blaise Castle House Museum, Henbury Road, Henbury, Bristol, Bristol, BS10 7QS. Displays will take place on the lawn immediately to the south west of the museum.

11:00 to 16:00 Saturday 13th September 2025

Free entry (there is a parking charge for the car park but on street parking is free)

Parking: At the Blaise estate Henbury Lodge car park – about 500m east on Kings Weston Road BS10 7AA, or on the road.

The “Bristol Festival of Archaeology” is a part of the national Festival of Archaeology and is co-ordinated by Bristol Culture. There are activities for the whole family. Throughout the day, there’ll be tours, demonstrations, displays and stalls from a whole host of local societies, re-enactors, field archaeologists and heritage organisations at a location variously known as Blaise Castle or Blaise Museum. Devereux’s Regiment will be providing a chance to try and clothing an equipment, provide timed talks on the C17th, including gunpowder production in Bristol and the two stormings of Bristol in 1643 and 1645.

There is a cafe at the car park and the free entry museum adjacent to the display areas is well worth a visit. The museum is sited in extensive open and wooded grounds which includes an Iron Age hillfort and a prominent C18th folly tower that gives the site the name of ‘Blaise Castle;’.
