Come and see how the skills of the Cavalrymen made them so feared on the battlefield (Monkton Park) 12:30: Display by Foot (Infantry) Come and see a Regiment of Foote from the Civil War. Watch the Musketeers firing, Pikemen practicing to attack their enemies, and drummers beating the time and relaying orders. All under the skilful command of the regimental officers. (Monkton Park) 1:00: Dinner for the soldiers and civilians. (Island Park) 1:30: Artillery display Do you know what a Falconet is? Or a Wormer? Come and find out as the mighty cannon open fire on Monkton Park, where expertGunners train the crews to bombard their enemies. (Monkton Park) 2:50: Ambush at Chippenham The Royalists have retreated out of Chippenham hoping to reach Devizes by nightfall. But Sir William Waller’s Roundheads are in hot pursuit, determined to catch up with Hopton’s Army and bring it to battle. Blood will be shed at Pewsham Forest… (Monkton Park) 3:00: Battle of Chippenham Battle is joined as the Roundheads attempt to defeat Hopton’s Army before it reaches Devizes.
