The English Civil War Society presents its’ final Major Battle of 2025 at the ‘Military Odyssey’ Show over August Bank Holiday Weekend. For three days, come and watch as we portray the famous Battle of Maidstone 1648 as the Veterans of Sir Thomas Fairfax’ New Model Army clash with a motley assortment of old Royalist soldiers and newly-pressed volunteers making one final attempt to free the imprisoned King Charles I and restore him to the Throne. You can also see our Living History team represent both soldiers and civilians in Maidstone at the time of the Battle as they demonstrate Crafts and Trades of the time, and how to fire cannon and muskets or wield a Pike in combat.

Our performance is one highlight of ‘Military Odyssey, which is one of the largest Re-enactment Shows in Europe with over 100 Groups taking part from Ancient Greeks to World War II and beyond. You can find out more about Military Odyssey here:-Home – Military Odyssey
