Cancellation statement

It is with deep regret that the Bury Commoners and English Civil War Society have cancelled the Bank Holiday event due to take place on Bury Field Common on 30th and 31 st August.

In the light of the severe fire risk on the Common and our concern for the safety of the public and re-enactors, we have concluded that the risk is too great for the event to go ahead.

Even with the rain that is forecast, we cannot be confident that the fire risk and other associated risks will reduce significantly, and we recognise that our Emergency Services are overstretched and do not wish to add to the stress and strain on them.
