Travel back in time and step foot into the murky history surrounding the Battle of Fyvie. The country is engulfed in the smoke of civil war, brothers, fathers and cousins all facing offing on opposing sides of the battlefield. The year is 1644 and overconfident after the sacking of Aberdeen an army of Royalist soldiers set camp near the Royal stronghold of Fyvie. Not far away a large Covenanter force approaches.

On the weekend of the 12th and 13th of August come see Fyvie Castle transformed back into the war-torn times of the 17th Century.  Visit the historic camp of the Great Marquess of Montrose, featuring 17th century re-enactors from around the UK. Learn all about the fascinating period of history, known as the War of the Three Kingdoms. Experience camp life from both a soldier and civilian’s perspective, witness demonstrations of weaponry and artillery, including the dramatic ignition of muskets and cannon fire. Also featuring a display of rescued birds of prey (Sunday only), face painting, rural crafts, and much more in what promises to be a fun and exciting day for the whole family.
